What are Label Services?

Music label services include a range of offerings designed to support independent artists and record labels looking for support with managing and promoting their music.

Artist and label services offer similar functions to those handled by record labels, but grant artists and labels more creative freedom and ownership of their work. You’ll gain support with marketing and promotion, such as crafting tailored campaigns to boost your visibility. Label services also help with music distribution and release strategy.

You’ll have all the support you need, without having to hand over your creative license and independence as an artist or record label.

Frequently Asked Questions

What genres do you work with?

We’re not picky when it comes to genres and are open to anything. We work with a wide range of artists across various genres, including rock, pop, jazz, blues, country, indie, heavy metal, electronic, afrobeat, latin and folk.

Is there a contract period for your Artist & Label services?

Unless cancelled or ended as outlined in the full Contract signed, it will initially last for 2 years starting from the date you upload your first recording to your Artist & Label Services account. After that, it will automatically renew for 1-year periods unless either Horus Music or the Client gives written notice to end it at least 30 days before the next anniversary. Please note that the contract term will only apply to the releases uploaded to your account.

How are royalties managed?

As a distribution company, Horus Music collects royalties whenever your release is downloaded or streamed. These royalties are collected by digital service providers, such as Spotify or Apple Music, then paid directly to us during specific payment cycles.

We pay all eligible clients after 90 days from when we receive royalties, and you can be paid via Convera or PayPal. Make sure you’ve included your payment details in your My Music Distribution Zone profile by going on your settings and then clicking ‘Payment Gateway’.

Can I use your services if I already have a distributor?

If you already have a distributor and are looking to transfer your catalogue to Horus Music, you’ll want to follow the right steps. Otherwise you may risk losing stream counts on streaming platforms such as Spotify, or risk there being a period where your releases aren’t live.

First, you’ll need to set up an artist or label account with Horus Music. From there, go to ‘Releases’ > ‘New Audio Release’ and upload each release in your catalogue.

Be careful when entering the metadata for each release. You’ll need to check the ISRC codes for each track are the same as with your previous distributor, along with the rest of the metadata (release dates, track titles and artist names).

From there, you can submit each release for distribution. Our team will then get to work to process and send the catalogue to the platforms. Finally, you’ll need to email the distribution team at alr@horusmusic.co.uk, and let them know which releases you’re transferring to Horus Music.

What is the process for playlist pitching?

We also offer editorial playlist pitching services, to help promote your tracks with the right curators, to boost streams and grow your following.

For Artist & Label Services clients we offer this for FREE!

We’ll pitch your upcoming single, EP or album to our exclusive, editorial curator contacts from digital streaming platforms across the globe.

Pitching begins six weeks before your release date, giving our contacts plenty of time to review your release. We’ll keep in touch with you throughout the process and as soon as wins come through, you’ll be sent links and screenshots to share with your listeners on social media.
