AI Policy for Distribution

HORUS MUSIC LIMITED

AI POLICY

Here at Horus Music, we support the development of our artists and welcome all advancements in technology that can aid with the creative process. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an exciting tool for musicians when applied in certain ways, but there are also restrictions that users should be aware of. We have the following policy in place when accepting songs from our clients.

Definitions:

AI-Assisted Works:

  • These works are eligible for copyright protection, provided sufficient creative choices have been made.
  • Ai is considered a tool.

AI-Generated Works:

  • Works created solely from prompts, without further creative input, do not qualify for copyright protection.

The following types of works are not accepted to be distributed by Horus Music, and they should not be submitted to us.

  • Deep fakes
  • Works that feature manipulation of unauthorised sounds, voices or sound alikes.

Both AI-Assisted and AI-Generated Works are accepted provided that:

  • you have permission to use the AI technology and have entered into a license to allow you to use the AI technology.
  • you have checked that the provider of the AI technology has the rights to license its use to you. You can do this by ensuring any AI tools or elements are from a reputable source.
  • you have identified to us which part of the musical work features the AI technology.
  • you have included this in the metadata.

It is important to note that we cannot distribute any AI-Assisted or AI-Generated musical works to Content ID platforms (including but not limited to YouTube Content ID, Meta, SoundCloud Content ID, AudibleMagic, SoundExchange, and TikTok/Bytedance) due to their policies.

It is essential that artists keep themselves protected from legal claims, which can come about following unauthorised or inappropriate use of AI.

Please Note: This is still very much a new area of development within the music industry and platforms, distributors and governments may change their stance or add restrictions on use of AI music.  Digital Service Providers (DSP’s) still retain the right to reject songs or refuse to pay royalties where they feel the use of AI has been inappropriate.

AI Policy for Publishing

HORUS MUSIC PUBLISHING LIMITED

AI POLICY

Here at Horus Music Publishing, we support the development of our songwriters and welcome all advancements in technology that can aid with the creative process. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an exciting tool for musicians when applied in certain ways, but there are also restrictions that users should be aware of.

Platforms and Collection Societies are currently operating on the basis that they do not accept 100% generated AI works but will accept AI assisted musical works (AI used in part of the composition), provided that this is labelled as such and identified as having used the AI technology. As such, we have the following policy in place when accepting compositions from songwriters.

AI-Assisted Works:

  • These works are eligible for copyright protection, provided sufficient creative choices have been made.
  • Ai is considered a tool.

AI-Generated Works:

  • Works created solely from prompts, without further creative input, do not qualify for copyright protection.

The following types of works are not accepted to be represented by Horus Music Publishing, and they should not be submitted to us.

  • 100% AI Generated Works
  • Deep fakes
  • Works that feature manipulation of unauthorised sounds, voices or soundalikes.

AI assisted musical works (AI used in part of the composition) are accepted provided that:
